    The Humane Society is planning a 2010 event in Okaloosa County that will celebrate sharks and discuss the “damage to their population” that shark-fishing and shark-fishing tournaments cause. Speakers from several conservation groups will discuss shark conservation issues and possible solutions.

    The aim of this conference is to provide a forum for the world’s leading shark and ray experts, along with students and up and coming early career researchers, to come together to share ideas, update information and report on the progress of the most recent scientific studies in the field of shark and ray ecology. As these species become more affected by human and environmental factors on a global scale, international approaches to their study and management will be increasingly important. This conference is a first step in encouraging and developing international linkages between researchers from various regions.

    Shark-A-Tag 2010 - Southwest Scotland

    The Scottish Sea Angling Conservation Network is hosting this event to tag sharks and collect valuable data to aid in protection of these animals.SSACN would like to see the Scottish government and fisheries managers make more effort to protect the various species of shark, but anecdotal evidence – no matter how obvious the situation is – is unacceptable to the government who have always claimed lack of scientific data.
