• Action Plan:
  
  1. Write to TV producers and news reporters to respectfully let them know what types of programs you would like to see.
  
  2. Educate friends and family about sharks. Give presentations to local groups and schools.
  
  3. Call or write to your local TV station or newspaper to let them know you don't approve when they print or air stories that unfairly demonize sharks or glorify trophy killing of sharks. Request that they write or air a follow up story to inform people about the plight of sharks and their importance to our oceans. Offer to provide information. Shark Safe Network can also refer you to a prominent shark scientist or shark expert who is willing to provide an interview.
  
  4. Also contact them when you hear about a positive shark story they can air or print.
  
  5. Call or write to dive operators who facilitate irresponsible productions. Let them know that you are aware of their involvement, you don't approve, and you will book your dive trips with other dive operators in the future.
